Lagos Polo: Black silent on team’s performance

By Ime Bassey

As the annual Lagos Polo tourney takes center stage at the club’s premises in Ikoyi this month, Tasty Fried Rider player, Nero Black is silent on his side’s performance.

Black told Saturday Vanguard Sports at the Ibadan Polo Club championship over the weekend that he anticipates a good championship.

“My expectation is very high as touching the championship but cannot say categorically what our performance will be. I can only give a valid comment when the matches get underway,” Black said.

He scored the overall organization of the Ibadan tourney very high, stressing that the more participation of teams from Lagos and Kano States made it worthwhile.

He couldn’t hide his shock over his teams’ victory as he ascribed it to good technical planning.

“This year’s championship is more interesting than that of last year as there are more teams participating. Therefore, I believe that next year will be far better than this year.

The tourney was okay. Prior to the championship, I never thought we would do this well because of our level of experience. It was a surprise when we won this final game since they had better horses than us. We had good planning for the game and it worked for us, I am very happy with it,” Black added.
