The Acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Nestor Binabo, Wednesday continued with the dismantling of former Governor Timipre Sylva’s structure by sacking his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Richard Perekeme Kpodoh.
Kpodoh’s office was in charge of the defunct dreaded terror machine, Operation Famou Tangbei, which allegedly tortured, killed and maimed several citizens in the state as well as witch-hunted political opponents of the former governor.
Operation Famou Tangbei was disbanded last September by former Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, after Abuja’s investigation and an avalanche of petitions indicted the special security outfit.
The sack of Kpodoh was contained in a statement signed by the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Millionaire Abowei.
The statement directed him to without delay hand over all government documents and vehicles in his possession to the office of the SSG and wished him well in his future endeavours.
Kpodoh is the fourth official of the Sylva administration to be shown the exit door as the former SSG, Gideon Ekeuwei, former Chief of Staff Government House, Samuel Ogbuku and former Chief Press Secretary, Doifie Ola, were last weekend sacked by the Acting Governor.
Analysts believe that more officials of Sylva’s kitchen cabinet would also be relieved of their appointment in the days ahead.
