PORT HARCOURT – Hundreds of Abuja and Lagos-bound passengers of one of the domestic airlines were stranded on Monday evening at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

One of the passengers travelling to Abuja, Mr. Lucas, said the airline kept rescheduling its flight until 10p.m. when passengers  were told the airline could not secure aviation fuel for the trip.

Vanguard gathered that the stranded passengers became restive after the announcement, and  insisted that the airline must provide accommodation for them for the night. Security operatives were almost overstretched as the situation almost became chaotic.

In another development, a prominent lawyer was feared dead in a ghastly motor accident around Eleme area of Rivers State on Monday.

A member of the deceased’s family, who spoke to Vanguard, said the lawyer broke his spinal cord in the accident.
A  source, who declined to be quoted, said family members made frantic effort to fly him abroad for medicare before he gave up the ghost.

When contacted, FRSC in the state said there was no information on the accident.
The source, who also declined to be quoted, assured he would get back to Vanguard with any finding on the sad incident.
