ABUJA— Protesters involved in ongoing anti-fuel subsidy removal protest said, yesterday, that the Federal Government has not seen the last of the protest, saying the Boko Haram challenge would not be compared to it.

One of the protesters told Vanguard in Abuja that they were ready to go on with the strike until government reverts to N65 per litre of fuel.

One of the protesters, Mr. Danbawa Wase, said the present administration was not sincere to Nigerians hence government would have realised the implication of the hike in price under the cover of subsidy removal.

He said: “We are ready to die with the government in pursuit of our stand on the reversion to old price.

“In fact, this strike is far more weightier than Boko Haram threat.”

The sect’s threat is nothing compared to the crippling of the country’s economy if government fails to revert to the old price of N65.

“This government is not a true government. They talked about deregulation, they subsidised gas, they subsidised kerosene and did monetisation. All of these were done in the name of providing the country with the necessary infrastructure, including good road and power. Now they have removed subsidy on fuel.”

Dambawa said those in the forefront of the subsidy removal were doing that in their own interest.
