Obuh tasks NFF on age cheating

Former Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh has urged the Nigeria Football Federation to step up its drive to stamp out age-cheating in Nigeria football as this was crucial to youth development.

Obuh who currently handles Sharks of Port Harcout stated that since the NFF took some far-reaching measures during his tenure as coach of the youth team they should continue with the aim of having a true under-age teams.

“ The federation took the right step of stamping out age-cheating and I give them kudos . During my time with the Flying Eagles their attitude towards age-cheating was very encouraging.

“ I remember, I went to the Under-20 AWC with less than 21 players when they discovered age cheating, then they insisted that two of my players would not go to the tournament. I want them to continue in that approach.”

Obuh added that parents of these young footballers, should come out and aid the NFF in its bid to wipe out this malady in the country’s football.

“Parents have a big role to play in this regards. They should tell Nigerians the truth age of their wards. If a father or mother can not tell us the truth about his son, it becomes very difficult for anybody to know the real age of such player.
