LAGOS — A CHIEFTAIN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has called on Nigerians to be patient with the Federal Government and give President Goodluck Jonathan a chance to execute the reforms his administration had promised Nigerians.

Doherty, who spoke against the backdrop of the on-going strike by organised labour and civil society group over the removal of fuel subsidy, said it was in the best interest of the country that the President was able to take the bold decision of removing the subsidy at this time.

Doherty, in a statement, said it was pertinent for Nigerians to ask “themselves if truly they benefitted from the fuel subsidy, beyond the fact of buying the commodity at N65 only.”

He enjoined labour unions and civil society groups to focus more on ensuring the effective monitoring and judicious usage of the funds accruing from the removal of the subsidy.
