As part of the build up to the 2012 African Taekwondo Qualification Tournament For London 2012 Olympic Games, the Nigeria taekwondo team yesterday departed for a four weeks training tour of South Korea.
Beijing 2008 bronze medalist, Chika Chukwumerije; quarterfinalist at Beijing, Issa Muhammad Adam and Joy Ekhator were the three athletes, while the physiotherapist was Dayo Olukunle, who has been with the team in previous championships with the recent being Maputo All Africa Games in Mozambique made the trip to Korea.
The secretary of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), Chinedu Ezeala-Ogundare told journalists that the team is poised to pick the four slots in Egypt come 2012, adding that the training became necessary to ensure that the team prepare well for the qualifiers holding in Cairo on January 11 to 12.
