Sunshine of Akure coach, Gbenga Ogunbote declared that main rivals Dolphins of Port Harcourt were lucky to have ran away with the 2011 league title, but things will be different next year.
Sunshine and Dolphins will open their 2012 account on January 7 in Port Harcourt. And just how Ogunbote hopes to topple the coach Stanley Eguma led side will be put on display.
The Sunshine coach stated that his team would be beefed up in all areas to meet with the challenge of not only winning the local league, but also doing well in the CAF Champions League.
“We are not going to Port Harcourt to seek revenge against Dolphins. Sunshine has put last season behind it and we are looking to present a good team that will do better than we did last season. 2012 will be a different ball game and I sincerely want to see that Sunshine doing better,” Ogunbote said.
He added that Sunshine will aim to perform well in their opening games of the season so that they will have a competitive edge in their champions league matches.
“Expectations will be very high this season and we need to start off on good note as well as do well in the CAF Champions League.
“The most important thing is that we will be playing in front of our home fans. The Akure stadium is ready, it is just the track that is delaying and I think that will not take more than two weeks to fix. Our fans want us back home, let’s see how it will look like,” said the coach.
