Rep hails Tambuwal’s leadership style

A member of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Sunny Ebenyi, has lauded the leadership qualities of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, noting that he was highly focused.

Ebenyi who represents, Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, said the House had not done badly in the last six months which according to him was a result of visionary leadership provided by the Speaker.

According to him, “the members are behind him, he has our confidence and we are one united family with common objective of providing quality legislations for Nigerians”

He said the House will continue to be on the side of the people stressing that “our bills will be people-oriented to ensure improved living standard for the Nigerian people.”

Ebenyi, who was a former Nigeria ambassador to Spain and the Holy Sea (Vatican), also commented on the current quest for Nigerians in Diaspora to vote in future elections, describing it as premature.

He noted that most Nigerians outside the country don’t usually find it necessary to make themselves available to the Nigerian missions abroad, a development he said made it impossible to establish the actual population of Diaspora Nigerians.

He stressed that “apart from United Kingdom and America where Nigerians are highly organized, you cannot find such in any other part of the world and without properly accounting for the real population of such group of Nigerians, it will be impossible to budget for their participation in elections”.

“I think the best thing to do now that the agitation is high is to direct our missions abroad to commence registration of Nigerians in their respective host countries so that we begin from there”, he said.

Ebenyi, who spoke to a group of journalists in his office bared his mind on the issue of fuel subsidy and declared that he would personally support the removal because of the enormous fraud associated with it, and what the country stands to gain from it, in future. “We may suffer the pains now, but in the future, the nation stands to gain” Hon. Ebenyi maintained.

He, however, added that the House would not betray Nigerians stressing that “if generality of Nigerians said no to subsidy removal, we will definitely be on their side like I have said before.”
