Enugu Rangers have picked a formidable 20-man squad for final rounds of the sub-regional WAFU Cup, which kicks off Friday in Lome, Togo.
The club’s leading scorer in the competition Kabiru Umar, who has banged home five goals, has made the cut despitereturning late to training from the break.
Three recent signings are included on the trip to Togo. They are Ghanaian central defender Erick Ackon formerly of Prime FC, Onovo Chuwuebuka and Madu Chibuzor.
Chukwuebuka was from non-league. He can play either as a defensive midfielder or right back and made his debut in a league game against Crown FC.
“We are in Togo to bring back the cup which was won last year by Sharks,” promised skipper John Nnam.
“We wish to give something back to our long-suffering fans.”
‘The Flying Antelopes’ have not won any major trophy for almost 30 years now.
The team are bound for Lome Wednesday.
The other semi-finalists in the annual sub-regional tournament are Horoya of Guinea, Gamtel from Gambia and a team representing host country Togo.
