LAGOS—Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, Ajele Station Business Manager, Mr. Famoritye, Thursday, was commended for living up to his responsibility and taking his duty as a PHCN staff serious.
The former Managing Director of Nigeria Airways, Mr. Abayomi Jones, gave the commendation following power failure faced in his office for days as a result of alleged damaged PHCN cables, leading to the problem in the area just opposite former Lufthansa offices on Broad Street.
He said: “It is still amazing to me that a power official will live up to his responsibility the way Mr. Famoritye, the Business Manager at Ajele Station did. I think Professor Barth Nnaji, the Minister of Power should be proud of people like this man. If all Nigerians take their duties this way, there will be hope of a better tomorrow in Nigeria.”
Jones said six companies, other offices and businesses in the area had been affected and when he called the PHCN office, which was picked by Famoritiye, there was a swift response.
He said: “There had been light failure in the area but the moment I called the PHCN office, one Engineer Famoritiye picked the call and immediately swung into action. He did not know who called but simply felt it was an urgent job to be done and he took up the responsibility. Power returned to the area in a jiffy.”
