By Daud Olatunji, Abeokuta
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, wife of former Governor of Ogun state, Mrs.  Olufunke  Daniel and the Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega  Dosunmu were yesterday dragged before Ogun State Truth Commission, over  land, security, assault and other sundry matters.

Both former President and Olowu were brought to the Commission by the Aworis Consultative Council, led by the Olota of Ota, Oba Moshood Alani Arolagbade III,  for allegedly engaging in the acts that , according to the council, were detrimental to the security of  Ota.

The petitioner also dragged the Area Commander of Sango identified as Adeoye before the commission for allegedly using his office to  cause chaos to the people of Aworis in Ota two years ago.  But, former first lady, was also  brought to court by ex-Chairman of Ijebu-East local Government, Tunde Oladunjoye and his personal assistant, Odunaya Rasheed for allegedly assaulting the former and invading the latter’s  private residence in Ijebu-Itele, in Ijebu-East local Government last year.

The commission which was set up by the state governor,Ibikunle Amosun was to hear  cases on assasinations, kidnapping, torture, maiming, dehumanization  and other criminal acts begun  sitting last week .

During  yesterday’s proceeding, Obasanjo and Olowu’s  names were mentioned as respondents in a case   marked , OGTC /17/2011,filed by Aworis Consultative Council ,compelling him, through the commission, to answer questions on alleged acts , which according to the petitioner,  were  considered detrimental to Ota people.

Though, the matter could not be  heared, following the discovery that Obasanjo and Olowu were not served  the  copies of the petition, which prompted the commission to   adjourn the matter  till January 11,2012. While ruling  on the application for adjournment, Justice  PiusAderemi, said it was necessary to grant an adjournment for the parties to regularize their position  and to be able to effect the service of the petition on Obasanjo and the Olowu.

Shortly before the Chairman ruled on the adjournment  date,  counsel for  the petitioner, Hibattulah  Salako,  had expressed  his willingness  to file an  addendum  to the petition with a view to stating  clearly  in the  petition  the names of their  respondents and their prayers.

However, Daniel’s wife, who was represented by one her counsel, Samson Ozah , pleaded for an adjournment, so as to afford him the opportunity to confirm whether his client has been served with the notice of the petitions.

At yesterday’s  hearing, two cases  which were brought before the commission against the  former first lady  in the state, for allegedly mobilizing thugs against  the  ex-Chairman and invading of his residence   by Daniel’s wife were adjourned till January 11, 2012, while her counsel  was  advised to  collect the two copies of the petitions for the onward transfer to his client.

Ozah who  told the court that, he was holding brief for   Yemi Oke drew the attention of the commission to a letter praying for an adjournment on the petitions but was ignored by the commission for his failure to have served other parties before the commencement of the hearing.
