Fans of Omoge music sensation, and returnee Mike Okri would have the opportunity of beholding their music idol perform some of his new songs cooked in his almost a decade sojourn in the United States of America as the popular celebrity hangout, and organisers of the monthly O’jez Entertainment Forum Award series, plays host to him, on Monday, December 26.

At the event, the entertainment industry will formally welcome home as well as pay tribute to one of the pioneers of Nigeria’s ‘new’ music, Okri.

“It will be a night to remember”, Chief Executive Officer of O’jez Entertainment Centre, Chief Joseph Odobeatu said in a statement. He added: “There is no better way to round up the year and activities of O’jez Entertainment Forum Awards series than with a huge concert featuring the award recipient and an artiste such as Mike Okri.

As I speak with you, Mike Okri is presently rehearsing with the vibrant O’jez Band because you know that Mike does not belong to the miming generation, his generation performs with a full accompaniment of a band and that is what he is planning to do come December 26.”

This is not to say that the usual heavy dose of highlife would be missing. “O’jez Entertainment Forum was founded to promote highlife music and that founding ideals had not changed. So, veteran Fatai Rolling Dollars and a host of other highlife greats such as Tunde Osofisan, YS Akinibosun and the Evergreen Band would be on parade as usual to spice up the Yuletide edition of the O’jez Entertainment Forum,” Odobeatu, popularly called O’jez, said.
