My only fear for Keshi- Odiaka

My only fear for Keshi- Odiaka

Eagles Coach, Keshi

By Philips Adefioye

The return of former Super Eagles captain, Stephen Keshi as coach of the team has been described as a good development which would resuscitate football in the country.

Former Nigerian international, Monday Odiaka  who gave this description  in an exclusive interview with Saturday Vanguard sports in Lagos said Keshi was not a stranger to the Nigerian system, however, added that the preparation which has commenced with home-based players will not easily bring back the country’s football to the top.

Odiaka further said that Keshi can not be pushed-over in administrative terms but the questions is, can he work with these Nigeria Football Federation board members? Because he would not want to commit the same mistake Siasia committed.

“It is a good thing for us that Stephen Keshi is back to handle our national team. I see him reviving our team, bringing good hands and winning matches for the country.

“Keshi is not a new person, he knows the tricks of the NFF, he knows what they can do but my only fear is that, can he work with the NFF? Because Keshi is somebody that would not want to make the same mistakes Siasia made. Keshi would want to be free, he would want to be in control. I don’t see how  Keshi can work with them.

“He captained this country and so knows our pattern of play. Keshi was also an assistant coach to Shaibu Amodu as well as U-20 chief coach and there is no way he can not achieve his target,” he said.
