ADO-EKITI- Former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni has described the landslide victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded governorship election in Kogi State as that of light over darkness.
Oni, who reacted to the election results through his media aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka congratulated the people of Kogi State for rejecting “those whose only agenda is the expansion of their political and economic territory, with a view to exploiting the people to enrich themselves, as they are doing in Osun and Ekiti states that they purchased through their allies in the judiciary.”
He said: “I congratulate the Governor-Elect, Capt. Idris Wada, the Deputy Governor-elect, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, our great party; the PDP and most importantly the entire people of Kogi State for this resounding victory.
“This victory, to me, is that of the forces of light over those of darkness. It is the beginning of the end for those who believed that with their ill-gotten wealth and voodoo, they can purchase anything, including the soul of this country.”
While urging the people of Kogi State to remain vigilant, even as they celebrate the victory, Oni said; “They are going to make noise that the election was rigged. They will go to the Tribunal and try what they did in Ekiti and Osun states. They will even in their usual desperation try to manipulate already thumprinted ballot papers like they did in Ekiti State, in what is now known as ‘ibo lehin ibo’ (voting after voting).
“Therefore, the battle should not be seen as being over yet. Kogi people should remain vigilant!”
