How Christopher Okagbue emerged winner of Gulder Ultimate Search 8

“To truly enjoy the Ultimate beer, one must first conquer” were the words spoken by Christopher Okagbue, the winner of Gulder Ultimate Search 8.

These words were read from a scroll found in the long lost helmet of General Maximillian. Only the Ultimate Hero had the privilege of reading from the scroll and the task fell on Christopher Okagbue. For it was he who found the treasure box, containing General Maximillian’s helmet which he proudly adorned to the adoration of all.

The venue was the Flamingo Hall of Best Western Hotel, Benin City; and the drums were rolled out to celebrate this year’s winner. Just 24 hours earlier, Christopher Okagbue had made history, and this defining moment was viewed by millions of viewers in Nigeria and beyond. He emerged the winner of Gulder Ultimate Search: Contest of Champions.

To emerge as this year’sUltimate Hero, he edged out Kevin Durst and Anastasia Azike.

On hand to celebrate withChristopher was the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, who was represented by Honorable Orobosa Omo-Ojo, the Special Assistant to the governor on Culture and Tourism.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, he thanked the management of Nigerian Breweries for hosting Gulder Ultimate Search 8 in the state.

Hon Omo-Ojo said: “We are honoured to have you here with us in Edo State. We appreciate the management of Nigerian Breweries Plc for finding us worthy to host this great show in our state. We shall again invite you to host yet another exciting edition of the show when the present administration is through with the transformation agenda. Then, we promise to give the participants a befitting show.”

Responding on behalf of Nigerian Breweries Plc, the company’s Marketing Director, Mr. Jacco van der Linden, expressed appreciation to the government. He said: “In line with our goal of being the preferred brand in the nation while also showcasing the beauty of Nigeria, the Gulder Ultimate Search made its way to Edo State for the second time.

Over 26,000 registered for the search and only 30 were found worthy of going into the jungle. Out of the 30, 10 champions emerged after undergoing various tasks and challenges. Today, we present to you the 10 champions. We also are celebrating Christopher Okagbue, the Ultimate Hero.”

As his reward for his sterling performance during the contest, Christopher Okagbue got N7 million, a brand new SUV worth N10 million and wardrobe allowance of N500,000.

For emerging Last Girl Standing, Anastasia Azike got N1 million naira. She also got an additional N1.75 million for emerging joint second position for GUS 8 with Kevin Durst. Kevin also carted home the prize of N1.75 million.

Anthony Igwe got N800,000 for emerging fourth. Fejiro Ejogbamu and Tony Horsfall both got N725,000 each for emerging fifth in the competition. For emerging seventh, Promise Ojiegbe was rewarded with N650,000 while Sunday Gyang got N600,000 for emerging eight. Olanrewaju Alawoki and Patience Ihongbe got N550,000 and N500,000 respectively for emerging ninth and 10th placed contestants.
