Group faults Edo gov on Osunbor’s comment

By GBENGA OKE
BENIN CITY—A Group, Edo Good Governance Forum, EGGF has frowned on comments credited to Governor Adams Oshiomhole describing the former governor of the state, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, as a nice Professor keeping bad company and putting the truth upside down.

The group said the attack on Osunbor was un-necessary as he remained the best man for the governorship seat in the 2012 forthcoming governorship elections in the state.

In a statement by the National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Ramson Izuangbe, the group maintained, “Unlike the present regime of stifling  high taxation of the working force, commerce and industry, the healthcare and education sectors coupled with the indiscriminate borrowing binge from the capital market and banks which has piled up a huge debt cache, Professor Osunbor took the sane route of not mortgaging the future of all Edolites”.

According to him, “As the Governor of Edo state between May 29, 2007 and November 11, 2008, Professor Osunbor was committed to the welfare and uplift of the average Edo indigene in the areas of corporate good governance, due diligence, accountability and sustainable development”.

“If 3years of civillian despotism, misplacement of priorities plunder unprecedented debt burden and over government add up to competence, then the current indices of mass disillusionment and lack of sustainable security of lives and property in Edo state are those development” he queried.

The group however stated that Oshiomhole’s endorsement of Professor Osunbor’s education and political savvy speaks volume of his growing political profile ahead of next years governorship election.

His words, “If for anything, his endorsement of Osunbor has shown that on Saturday July 14, 2012, a PDP with Professor Osunbor bearing the governorship ensign will put paid to all his (Oshiomhole’s) pretensions that he is the prescribed messiah that Edo state has been waiting for since 1991 the state was created”.
