Former civil service chief’s kidnappers want N15m

By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—A former member of Delta State Civil Service Commission, Chief Martin Ohwevwo, was, weekend, kidnapped at Otu-Jeremi Junction, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.

A source told Vanguard that he was kidnapped on his way to a ceremony at 10am.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said his car and the person who was with Ohwevwo were later abandoned along Udu road.

He said the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of N15 million.

The family source decried the spate of insecurity in the country and urged the government to create employment for youths.

Effort to reach the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the area proved abortive at press time.

However, a senior police officer in the division confirmed the incident, saying: “We are already on the trail of the hoodlums. The police are committed to the security of lives and property in the state.”
