FEDERAL Government has been enjoined to release arrears of five hundred billion naira owed the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. Former Executive Director Finance and Administration of the Commission, Pastor Power Aginighan, who made the appeal while congratulating members of the new board of the commission, said the arrears were shortfall in the allocation to   the NDDC

Urging the new board to work in harmony to achieve development in the region, he stressed the importance of team spirit and cooperation among members of the new board.  “As one of the dramatis personae in the drama of irreconcilable conflicts that culminated in the dissolution of the last governing board, I am bold to say that the task of repositioning the NDDC to deliver on its mandate of providing sustainable development for our long traumatized and beleaguered Niger Delta requires the active co-operation of all who crave for improved quality of life for our people,” Aginaghan said.

“It is in pursuance of the above imperative that I join all well-meaning Nigerians to demand the immediate release of the arrears of Federal Government statutory contribution to the NDDC from the inception of the Commission to date which is already in excess of N500billion.”
