The nineteen newly appointed commissioners in Gombe State, yesterday, took their oath offices.
Among the commissioners are Hajiya Fatima, daughter of Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar; two former commissioners in the Senator Danjuma Goje’s administration, Mrs Aishatu Ahmad and Dahiru Buba Biri; a deputy director in the Federal Capital Development Authority, Malam Shehu Hadi Ahmed and immediate past chairman of Biliri Local Government Area, Mr. Rabenson Wasa.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Gombe International Stadium, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo charged them to be ready to serve the people and not their personal interests.
Dankwambo also urged them to work towards realizing the dreams of the present administration by executing people oriented projects.
The Governor also said that under the new dispensation, occupation of any office of leadership is no longer a lucrative or money making venture but a challenging task to render meaningful service. He stressed “that whoever is on board to save his personal interest should know that the atmosphere is going to be cloudy and seriously unconducive for him.”
