Change-A-Life offers soft loan to indigent women


As part of its capacity building and women empowerment programmes, Change-A-Life, through its Women-In-Need business intervention initiative, presented nine industrious indigent women with micro-credit loans to help strengthen and grow their businesses.

These women who were also participants at the just concluded Change-A-Life entrepreneurial workshop were chosen due to their, uniqueness of their businesses, brilliance exhibited during the training and extenuating situations.

Four of the women who have been trained in the art of making local fabrics such as ‘adire – tie and dye, batic – candle wax and, alamala’ by Stop the Abuse of Rights organisation (STAR) will use their micro-credit loans to purchase materials such as guinea brocade, dye, candle wax, caustic soda and others that will enable them produce beautiful Nigerian fabrics to be sold within and outside the country.

Change-A-Life also granted Mrs. Olutosin Oladosu Adebowale; president of STAR organisation a micro-credit loan to rent an outlet for displayed and selling of her wares.

Other recipients of the micro-credit grants are widows and guardians of beneficiaries on the Change-A-Life scholarship scheme.

These women will grow their businesses and generate incomes to be used to support their families.

Founder of Change-A-Life, Funmi Iyanda, while speaking at the event, said ‘granting micro-credit loans to guardians of beneficiaries on the Change-A-Life scholarship scheme is a holistic approach to Change-A-Life programmes and ensuring that another human endowment is not wasted.

These loans will enable them build thriving and sustainable businesses thus; adequately cater for their families.

Also, supporting women to produce our local fabrics is our way of appreciating them and helping to showcase our country’s rich culture and heritage.”

Change-A-Life Foundation was founded in 2002 by award winning journalist and television producer, Funmi Iyanda to intervene in the lives of vibrant and talented people however; with great needs through its educational, business, and healthcare schemes.

Members of Change-A-Life board of trustee; Mr. Muhtar Bakare – CEO Kachifo Limited and Chairman of the board and, Funmi Iyanda – Founder of Change-A-Life presented the micro-credit loans to the beneficiaries.
