Benue presents N105.5bn budget

By Peter Duru
MAKURDI— Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has proposed a budget of N105.5 billion for 2012 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

The proposal is over 40 per cent higher than the 2011 budget which was N63.6 billion.

Christened Budget of Actualization of Growth and Development, Suswam said the budget was aimed at ensuring that all projects started by his administration were completed before the end of his tenure.

He said the key assumptions in the budget was that N59.9 billion would be generated from the Federal Account; N15.2 billion from Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, while N30.3 billion was expected to be generated from other sources.

Suswam said the budget would consolidate and address the increase in workers’ salaries, occasioned by the new minimum wage increase in the country.
