WIFE of the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Christian Church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi who had remained in the United Kingdom 13 months after their marriage, has finally joined him in Nigeria.
A reliable source close the church told SUNDAY WORSHIP yesterday that Mrs. Esther Kumuyi arrived Nigeria a few days ago for the first time after their private wedding in October 2010 in London to join her husband to fill the vacuum left behind by the late Sister Biodun Kumuyi who was in charge of the women in the ministry nationally and internationally.
Mrs. Esther Kumuyi who mounted the podium on Sunday during a combined service at the International Bible Training College, IBTC, Ayobo, Lagos pledged her commitment before the Lord, Jesus that she will lead the women folk in holiness and righteousness. Admitting that she was not worthy to step into the shoes of late Mummy Biodun Kumuyi, she however, reiterated her commitment to live an exemplary life and hold on to the tenets of faith which the Deeper Life Church is known for.
She also solicited for the co-operation of the church to take the women ministry to a new dimension. Curiously, the new Mrs. Kumuyi made remarks on television after a brief introduction by the GS to the effect that his wife was in their midst. Curious because, late Mrs. Biodun Kumuyi was never seen on television or in a public glare except among fellow women.
After her televised appearance in the Lagos church, the couple moved to their Abuja branch of the church for another Sunday service and the usual Monday Bible study together.
Before her death in the early hours of Saturday, April 11, 2009 at her residence in the IBTC, Ayo-bo, Ipaja, Lagos, Mrs. Biodun Kumuyi, 57, was the National Woman Co-ordinator of the church and the International Co-ordinator of the women ministry in Africa and other continents where the church has branches, as well as the Editor-in-Chief of the well-circulated Women Mirror magazine published by the church.
Eighteen months after her demise, Pastor William Kumuyi, 71, took former Sister Esther Folashade Aduke Blaize, 65, to the altar at a solemn ceremony in the UK, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.
