ABAKALIKI — STATE Chairman of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Chief Emerika Orji, Secretary of the party, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Onu, and publisher of a local tabloid in the state, Voice Newspapers, Chief Imo Eze, were yesterday arraigned before a magistrate’s court sitting in Abakaliki over an alleged misleading publication against the state government.
Others arraigned were the state Chairman of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Mr. Celestine Chukwu and two staff of Ebonyi State Judiciary, Mrs. Christiana Okorie and Mr. John Nwafor.
During proceedings yesterday, prosecuting counsel, Mr. Chibuzor Ejiogu, pleaded with the presiding Magistrate, Mr. Job Orude, to allow him make certain corrections in the charge sheet against the six accused persons.
Responding, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. Job Orude, noted that based on the mistakes in the charges against the accused persons and the need to make certain correction in the document, the
court would not admit the charges and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in police custody.
The court adjourned hearing on the matter for today, December 1, as the accused persons were remanded in police custody.
