MAIDUGURI – BARELY an hour after the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram,  attacked security operatives and detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Damaturu,  Yobe state, yesterday afternoon, Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, came under the attack of the sect as multiple bomb explosions rocked the city killing 16 people, while several others were  injured.

The blasts occured simultaneously at Dala Alamderi, Gamboru, NNPC Depot, and Timber Shed areas of the metropolis.

Spokesperson of the Joint Task Force , Hassan Mohammed confirming the incident , however said only one person was killed in the blasts, and that the JTF is working round the clock to ensure a hitch free Christmas celebrations.
