Bauchi— Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State is to launch a compendium on his achievements in the state from May 2007 to date by June.
State Head of the Civil Service, Mr. Abdon Gin, said this while receiving the newly-elected officials of the Correspondents Chapel of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, during a familiarisation visit to his office.
He said: “The compendium will articulate all the achievements made in the civil service, various interventions made by the Yuguda administration, they are numerous, many.”
Gin explained that the government felt that there was no other organ that will articulate the compendium than the media, hence its involvement in the membership of the committee saddled with the publication during the next Civil Service Day in the state.
He observed that no responsible government will underrate the strategic position the media occupy in governance, especially as regards to advocacy, education and enlightenment of the citizenry.
The Head of Service then assured the correspondents chapel members that the Yuguda-led administration would continue to carry them along on major policy issues, and appealed to them to always balance their stories on government activities, instead of skewing such reports to be one-sided.
The Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, however, advocated a collaborative partnership between the media and the office of the Head of Service towards ensuring that the dreams of the Yuguda-led administration were realised.
