LAGOS — National leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinibu, has reiterated the need for enthronement true federalism in the country, noting that it was the only viable solution to the lingering ethno-religious and tribal crises threatening the unity and development of Nigeria.
He called on progressive minds to rise up to the challenge of defending democracy and bad leadership, adding that power does not come on a platter of gold but by struggle.
Represented by Vice Chairman, Editorial Board of the Nation Newspapers, Mr. Ayobolu Olusegun, at the Norsewide International 3rd National Converge in Lagos, Tinubu, said: “This type of programme is timely, in addressing the challenges of the moment. By this, we know there is hope for this country, for a group of people with like minds and common purpose to give their energy, time and resources to pursue what is for public good.”
He described the current challenge of insecurity from Boko Haram, economic crisis, unemployment as a product of bad leadership occasioned by wrong structure and system of government currently practised by Nigeria, insisting that unless the country embrace true federalism, every effort to transform her will be ineffective.
Tinubu who bagged a life achievement award on the occasion, expressed appreciation for the honour, adding that it would motivate him to do his best to advance the course democracy, true federalism and actualise the potentials of Nigeria.
