Super Cup organisers plan hitch-free final

Against the backdrop of the surge in attendance on Match Day Three of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Cup here in Bauchi, organizers of the season ending tournament said they have mapped out additional measures to ensure a hitch-free closing ceremony at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

Aminu Maigari, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari who arrived Bauchi yesterday to grace the closing ceremony, said he was highly impressed with the Bauchi show and charged the NNL to ensure it sustains the tempo in the coming season.

“I am happy with the way Chief Inyama and the Board members have started. If they continue this way, we are going to see a better national league from the 2012 season. The Bauchi Super Cup has been a wonderful,” Maigari stated.

A former Sponsorship Manager of Globacom, Harry Iwuala who is on a business trip in Bauchi said he deliberately made out time to attend matches of the Super Cup match and also praised the league board. “It takes good organization of events and proper planning and packaging to attract corporate support and I have seen deliberate effort here in Bauchi to add colour and class to the National League starting with the colorful pre-tournament draw at the Zaranda hotel. The matches have been well organized. On the whole, I think the NNL has started well,” said Iwuala, Lead Consultant at Youdees Limited.

Officials of the four clubs featuring in the competition have not been left out of the tribute of praises in the light of the reception and security they have been provided.

“When we arrived, we were taken straight to the hotel where accommodation had already been reserved for us. All our needs were taken care of promptly. Organization has been perfect. We just hope the league board will carry this into the regular season,” declared a visibly impressed Coach Ogbeide of Akwa United.

Meanwhile the competition comes to a close today with Bauchi state governor Alhaji Issa Yuguda gracing the final. Homers Wikki will in the first game face Rising Stars, while Akwa United will do final battle with Jigawa Golden Stars at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium. Winners are to smile home with a giant trophy and cash prizes.
