BY AMAKA ABAYOMI
STANBIC IBTC, GTHomes, Safe Trust Savings and Loans, and Aso Saving and Loans, have partnered Casasolida Ltd., a property support company to real estate developers, on the ‘Own a Home’ property fair, aimed at helping people own their homes.

Speaking at the fair, the Principal Partner, Casasolida Ltd, Ms. Busola Oyebedejo, said the aim of the fair is to help people who want to own or lease homes but don’t know where to look at.

“It is a quarterly event which we organise to help solve the housing needs of prospective home owners by bringing them, estate developers we know can deliver and mortgage banks to provide loans at affordable interest rates to them.

“We help reduce the housing and accommodation stress on government by meeting the housing needs of those that want to build, buy or lease houses.

“We currently are working with Stanbic IBTC, GTHomes, Safe Trust Savings and Loans, and Aso Saving and Loans, and these institutions provide loans with interest rates that the average Nigerian can afford to pay back.”

Speaking on behalf of the financial institutions, Mr. Emeka Ikenze of Stanbic IBTC Home Loans, said aside providing affordable loans to prospective home owners and developers, they try as much as possible to be thorough in their documentations so as not to fall victim to fraudsters and to avoid government problems.

On how much interest is charged on loans given, Ikenze said they initially charged between 12.75 – 19 per cent, but with the banking reforms, they had to add 4 per cent to the rates.
