Meantime, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has been asked to organise council elections immediately so that the sudden deterioration in the 33 local councils can be urgently addressed.

A release issued by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Synergy League and signed by its spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade said the current confusion created by the legislature, Commissioner for Local Government and the sacked Caretaker council chairmen is a clear signal that the past three months under the Ajimobi-selected chairmen has been a colossal waste.

The statement said that by admitting that they could not perform because they were starved of funds by government is an admission of collective system collapse for which the only remedy is urgent council election to sweep them out with their own brooms.

The statement lamented the defense of the commissioner for local government that projects were not implemented because contract sums were over-bloated by the chairmen.

The group said it was not impressed because blame trading had always being the hallmark of non-performers
