Ondo State government is set to deliver 276 housing units for occupation by residents of the state in three locations before the end of the year.
Two of the housing estates made up of 210 housing units at Oba-Ile and Oda Road are being constructed by the state in partnership with private firms, while the third estate at Ilekun, comprising of 66 housing units, is being handled by Ondo State Property and Development Corporation (OSPDC).
Chairman, OSDPC, Chief Dele Awosika, disclosed this while on inspection tour of Ilekun estate, where he noted that 80 people had already subscribed for the houses. He said the houses were in four categories of two-bedroom terrace duplexes, two-bedroom semi-detached, three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows and three-bedroom detached bungalows, which are at final stage of completion.
He said officials of the corporation had been directed to stop receiving applications from prospective buyers, adding that Governor Olusegun Mimiko had approved the release of N604m for the project, which would be used to also provide water, roads and other amenities within the estate. He said about N200m of the amount released as first batch disbursement had been committed to the project.
