Ogun resolves Workers’ Estate controversy

Ogun State government has resolved the controversy surrounding the signing of the Deeds of Assignment by occupiers of the Laderin Workers’ Estate, Abeokuta. The government has agreed to make available new deed documents, which will serve as the title document for the occupiers after they must have made full payment for the houses.

It will be recalled that earlier in the year, a disagreement broke out between the subscribers and the government over some issues in the document, which made the former to reject it.

Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Daniel Adejobi, disclosed this at a meeting with the estate’s Community Development Association in his office. He was quoted in a statement as saying that the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration was committed to attending to the housing needs of all the citizens.

Adejobi said that the issues have been resolved amicably between the two parties and another Deed of Assignment had been printed for the occupiers to append their signatures.

The statement also quoted Public Relations Officer of the CDA, Mr. Lanre Ogunyinka, as thanking the government for the resolution of the controversy, promising that the occupiers and house owners were ready to cooperate with the ministry from time to time.

On plans of the ministry to construct more houses in the estate, Adejobi said the state government could access loans from National Housing Fund being managed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria after the occupiers had duly signed the document to facilitate the completion of the over 100 units whose foundations had been laid.
