Ogun community wants gov’s assistance

ABEOKUTA— Residents of Iyesi Ota community of Ogun State have appealed to Governor Ibikunle Amosun to come to their aid by providing security for them against thugs hired by a land agent who have been terrorising them.

The thugs were said to have stormed the community last weekend brandishing guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons as a detachment of policemen was alleged to be giving them cover while patrolling the area.

The operation was said to have been led by the land agent who claimed to have obtained an injunction on behalf of a chief from a neighbouring village.

According to one resident; “As some thugs were busy pasting posters on every house in the area, others moved round the town harassing the residents and landlords who were working on their sites.”

“At the end of the operation, many residents were seriously wounded while others had their property vandalised by the thugs.”
