Nigeria’s Super Eagles will have their winning bonuses slashed by half according to NFF President Aminu Maigari.
Since the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, the squad have been paid $10 000 as winning bonuses and half of that for a draw, but Maigari says the cost of servicing that was becoming too much of a burden for the federation.
The team’s failure to qualify for the Nations Cup has also not helped matters as it has cost the federation millions in potential income.
”We have resolved to slash the match bonus of the players because of the huge bills the federation incurs after every match,”Maigari said.
The new coach will have as his first unsavoury duty, the responsibility of communicating the decision to the players.
