Maiduguri – The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri on Thursday said it had recovered two improvised explosive devices at the Kofa Biyu area of the metroplolis.
The Field Commander of the JTF, Col. Victor Ebhaleme, said that the bombs were discovered in a hideout following a street bomb blast on Wednesday night, which attracted the attention of security operatives on patrol.
“Immediately we heard the bomb explosion, the patrol team rushed to the scene and cordoned off the spot to prevent passers-by from stepping into the scene.
“Fortunately for us this morning, after conducting a thorough search of the area we discovered two explosives.”
Ebhaleme said that if not for the effort of the JTF, anybody who passed through the concerned road at that particular moment could have detonated the bombs.
He called on the people to assist the security operatives with useful information that would lead to the arrest of those behind the rampant explosions in the state.
The commandant assured them that any information received would be treated with utmost confidentiality. (NAN)
