THE drums are already echoing messages of what to expect in next year July elections in Edo state the Heart Beat of the Nation.

The beat that has sent signals to the main opposition of the state that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will not leave anything to chance to unseat the loud mouth presently occupying Dennis Osadebey Government House has sent jitters across the state.

The reaction from the Action Congress of Nigeria, AC N last Sunday that one single man with probably one million heads would rubbish a party as strong as the PDP calls for a lot of questions.Does it mean that the Edo PDP is so weak that one man whose antecedents are as questionable as his person could boastfully say he would demolish the party in a state where all the members except himself are decampees from PDP.

His style of governance too is nothing to write home about despite the abracadabra method of governance he introduced to deceive the good people of Edo State.Could it be that he has seen the obvious that his days are numbered as the disunited PDP is now united to fight a common just fight.

Or that it is so glaring that a united PDP with the right flag bearer would defeat any party in the state come rain or sun shine in the Heart Beat.Could it also be true that the AC N is plotting to ensure that the PDP fields the wrong candidate so that it would be easy sailing for the one man party in the state? Or better still could it be true that the one man party has concluded plans to sponsor a stooge to emerge in the yet to be scheduled PDP primaries?

Well PDP has what it takes to sweep the broom waving party out of Edo in next year’s poll if only it would abide by the tenets of internal democracy.This tenet that eluded the party for years may just be the joker that Chief Dan Obih and his men need to deliver Edo from the present heavy bondage imposed on them by the rudderless government in the state.

Obih knows a good candidate when he sees one, he should forget about the diabolically imposed confusion that engulfed the party for almost four years and forge ahead to ensure the party emerges victorious in next year’s election. Presently the four men that had signaled their intentions to run under the party platform are namely: Senator Oserheimen Osunbor, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, General Charles Airhiavbere,retd,Barrister Kenneth Imansuagbon all having very tall credentials that could intimidate any party.

Osunbor was a former Governor that was not allowed to actualize his plans because of lack of internal democracy in the party then.But today the party has embraced internal democracy that preaches oneness and rule of law. His chances are largely going to depend on his track record which has automatically placed others behind him because none among the four has any record to boost their credentials. He ruled the state for 18 months and left an ever lasting impression on the faces of Edolites.

For those 18 months Edo experienced peace and industrial harmony as the man brought government to the door steps of the people. The bridge between the government and the governed was removed and the state moved to greater heights of excellence within the period as peace reigned and bandits moved away to elsewhere. Osunbor made Edo a peaceful haven within this short period, he was a man of his words tried all within his reach to fulfill his electoral promises never did he play to the gallery.

Professor Ihonvbere has always being there fast becoming a war veteran in Edo governorship matters, he was there in 2007 though he lost the race but remained a party faithful as he had the option of joining the one man party in the state which he turned down. He is a strong contender but may not be able to deliver the state because his track records are not as strong as that of Osunbor.

But he is needed in the party to help unseat the present incumbent who appears to be confused for now. The General was not really known until six months ago when he came from retirement and raided the political clime of the state with the zeal of an army General that he is.

His political antecedent is still shrouded but he is also a good material for Edo Government House. He is a very good weapon for the party as having a General of his caliber in Edo PDP is good for the image of the party because he served his father land meritoriously and this wealth of experience is good for the development of the party.

Barrister Kenneth Imansuagbon has been in the news as a would be governorship aspirant or better still former Action Congress Governorship aspirant. He has also brought this newsy aspect of his ambition to the PDP hoping to clinch the ticket to run against the man that denied him access to his emergence of AC governorship aspiration in 2007.

He is also a good party man who may play a pivotal role towards unseating the one man party in the state. Internal democracy would be an overriding factor in the Edo PDP primaries but the party must look well well for the right person that could unseat the incumbent.

From the above, Osunbor clearly possesses all the credentials required to deliver Edo state from the shackles of slavery imposed by the present government.
