Israeli club, Hapoel Tel Aviv have refuse to allow midfielder, Nosa Igiebor join the national under-23 team in Morocco.
Hapoel had made it clear that Igiebor would not be allowed to play in the London 2012 qualifying tournament as it was not on the FIFA calendar. Besides they have crucial games at that period. However, Igiebor is hopeful that he should be able to join the team before Saturday’s opener against hosts Morocco.
“My club are proving a little difficult, they are saying we have some important derbies to play. But I have asked them to allow me go even if just for a game or two,” said Igiebor.
“My heart is at the tournament and I will very much want to be there. So, I’m still hoping for the best way out of this situation.”
A central or attacking midfielder, he has scored a total of six goals in all competitions for the Olympic. And this was why coach Austin Eguaveon insisted on having the player despite the fact his release would be difficult.
“We are in talks with his club over his release. The club want him to play for them this weekend and we have also told them we need him for our first game,” Nigeria Olympic team spokesman Arafat Aliu said.
“It’s still a developing situation and we should have a clearer picture of things very soon.”
The Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel star is also yet to get his entry visa to Morocco.
