Just hours after the NFF listed him for two friendlies this month with the Super Eagles, Ekigho Ehiosun has also been called up to the Olympic team.
The Samsunspor forward is one of 16 foreign-based players named by Augustine Eguavoen to take part in a two-week training camp in Ghana ahead of the CAF Under-23 Olympic qualifying tournament in Morocco.
All 16 players are expected to meet up with the rest of the squad next week in Ghana.
NFF Technical Committee chairman Christopher Green, however, explained that Ehiosun will only join the Under-23 team after the two senior friendlies.
“He will report to the Super Eagles camp first, then go and join the Under-23 team,” Green told KickOffNigeria.com.
The Olympic Team list has three players from Italy, four from Spain, two from Ukraine, and one each from Albania, Turkey, Israel, England, Portugal, Sudan and Ivory Coast.
In naming the squad, Eguavoen has warned the players that they will all have to earn their places.
“There is no automatic shirt in this team. All players must come and prove that they are worthy of making the final 21 to the championship,” he said.
Eguavoen has a November 16 deadline to submit his final list of 21 for the championship.
Nigeria begin their campaign against hosts Morocco on November 26 in Tangiers.
