Asaba—FEAR has gripped many contractors handling mega projects in Delta State as the state House of Assembly, which recently adjourned indefinitely following the slow pace of work, is planning to set up a panel of inquiry into the projects.
The state Assembly is expected to resume sitting today.
Sources told Vanguard that “nobody is happy with what is going on. Some of us are aware that most of the contractors have been paid good monies to ensure they moved to site with regard most of the projects which are nearing completion. But we noticed that some of them are behaving as if they are untouchable and are holding the state to ransom, which is why we are insisting that there should be an open inquiry.
“Let them come with facts and figures to convince Deltans that they are not to be blamed for the delay in completion of these projects.”
Acting Clerk of the House, Mrs. Lyna Ocholor, in a statement, notified members of the resumption of sitting today.
It was gathered that the firm handling the Asaba drainage system had mobilised more hands and was working round the clock to ensure early completion of the project.
