2012 guber: Edo CPC, LP, ANPP, PPP plot coalition

By Simon Begbulem
BENIN— AHEAD of the July 14, 2012 governorship election in Edo State, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Wednesday, disclosed plans by the party to enter into a coalition with Labour Party, LP, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and Progressive Peoples Party, PPP, with a view to presenting a consensus candidate.

State chairman of CPC, Mr. Godwin Erhahon, who disclosed this in Benin City to newsmen while reviewing the administration of Governor Adams Oshiom-hole, said the ACN administration had failed.

He said: “Rather than eradicating poverty as he promised, Oshiomhole brought a new tax regime that compounded the problems of the people.”

It would be recalled also that LP’s state Public Relation Officer, Mr. Isaiah Osifo, and other members of the party, had last week scored the three years administration of Governor Oshiomhole low after it describing it as a “propagandist government.”

However, state chairman of ACN, Mr. Thomas Okosun, described their comments as laughable. He said: “They are all our brothers. Unfortunately, some times they want to play politics and tend to talk rubbish. Even the blind can see how Oshiomhole has brought back our lost glory after Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, destroyed the state for 10 years.

“So I expect them to say the truth and stop playing politics all the time.”
