GO, EAGLES GO!

All through their training ahead of the crucial Nations Cup tie against Guinea on Saturday, Eagles’ coach Samson Siasia drummed it into his players’ ears that early goals will win the match for them.
Guinea’s game plan is to keep it tight at the back by putting more men behind the ball. This is to frustrate the Eagles whose nerves will obviously be near boiling point due to the urgency to wrap up the game.
“ They are coming with a view of playing a draw. But how can they come here to get a draw? It is not not in this game.
“ I don’t think we will give them any chance to play because we are fully aware what is at stake.
“We will attack them from the blast of whistle to the end. Hopefully, we will get an early goal and that will unsettle them in the defence,” Siasia stated.
Against this background, the coach has had special sessions with his strikers with a view of putting them in the best frame of mind for the game against the Guineans.
Nigeria needs at least a 2-0 win to topple the Guineans who are currently topping the group qualifiers with 13 points. Siasia added that he and his charges are determined to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup and also win it.
But they have to get over the Guinean hurdle first. Perhaps they can draw inspiration from the 1960 class of Eagles who handed Guinea a 4-1 drubbing in the Syli Stars’ first international outing.
