Shell Ogunu Golf Club ends Independence celebration in grand style

Shell Ogunu Golf Club marked this year’s anniversary with a two-day Mega Golf Tournament with trophies and other gift items totaling over N5m (five million Naira) to various winners across Nigeria .

The Golf tournament was just one of the numerous activities lined up by the Anglo-Dutch oil giant in the country to mark Nigeria’s 51st Independence anniversary in which no fewer than 14 trophies attached to household equipment such as refrigerators, washing machines, generating sets, plasma T.V sets, micro-waves, Air-conditioners, water dispensers were won in the competition entered by 93 golfers from all parts of the country in 1-4 different categories including ladies and veterans.

Speaking to Sports Vanguard in an exclusive interview at the end of the competition, Golf Club Captain, Aganmwonyi Ehiosu said “this years’ tournament and the money made available for same provided them the opportunity to up-grade some of the facilities in the Club”, promising a better and more rewarding tournament for Golfers next years>

Amongst key golfers in this year tournament competition are the Managing Director/Country Chair of SPDC, Mutiu Sunmonu; Vice-president, HSSC, Tony Attah; M. Balami; Osagie Okunbor and Oleg Karpushin. Others Shola Williams and Hon. Dan, Mayuku of the Delta State House of Assembly in which Mr. A. Charles emerged the first Nett; Mr. G Izoje second Nett and 3rd Nett was won by Club Captain, Aganmwonyi Ehiosu respectively.
