Senate urges increased allocation for science, tech

By LAIDE AKINBOADE
ABUJA— Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Professor Robert Boroffice, has urged the Federal Government to increase budgetary allocations for science and technology in the country.

Senator Boroffice, who  represents Ondo North in the National Assembly, stated this when he paid a visit to the solar panel making plant in National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Abuja.

He said it was imperative for the Federal Government to increase the budgetary allocation for the development of science and technology in the country, as this would ensure socio-economic development of the nation.

He said:  “It is rather unfortunate that the Federal Government is not committing enough funds to science and technology in the country. If we look at the level of funding in science and technology in any nation, you will see a correlation between it and their income per capita.”
