Ondo PDP crisis deepens

BY DAYO JOHNSON

AKURE-THE crisis in the Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP deepened Thursday as a former Finance Commissioner under the immediate past administration of Dr. Olusegun Agagu, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, resigned from the party.

Chief Alasoadura who was the finance commissioner for the six years during Agagu’s administration, dumped the party despite perceived reconciliation of warring members of the party.

He was said to have fallen out with the leaders of the party because of his ambition to contest the governorship election in 2013.

Alasoadura was said to have been asked to exercise patience because the election year is still far but he was said to have preferred to quit the party than not to be allowed to realise his ambition.

His faction and those loyal to the former governor Agagu engaged in war of words which polarised the party before the crisis that followed ministerial nominee.

Investigation revealed that throughout the meetings leading to the alleged reconciliation, Chief Alasoadura did not attend any

There are insinuations that Alasoadura is heading to the Action Congress of Nigeria, CAN, where he is said to have been promised the 2013 governorship ticket.

Reacting to the development, through its Publicity Secretary, Chief Olufemi Omosanya, PDP said it was a welcome development.
