Members of the NMVA 2011 organizing committee led by the visionary Mr. Cally Ikpe paid a courtesy call on the honourable minister of culture, tourism and national orientation; Edem Duke in his office at Abuja recently.

The visit was to further align the objectives of the annual national event with the ideals of the ministry following the earlier endorsement of the awards as a viable national brand by his predecessor.

In his welcome address the honourable minister acknowledged that the NMVA is Nigeria’s premier music video awards instituted to reward outstanding creators and contributors to music videos production in Nigeria.

Edem Duke also observed that happenings in the world of music globally and Callivision Networks dogged commitment to this cause are clear indicators that the project would do well to further position and project the country’s vision for the culture and tourism sector. This he hopes would further enhance competition in the creativity arena, unlock great artistic potentials of Nigerians and facilitate the resurgence and promotion of Nigeria music and entertainment industry.

The honourable minister reiterated that his ministry would work with organizers of the NMVA assiduously towards the implementation of the 2011 edition.  The Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) was instituted on 2nd December 2007 as a wholly Nigerian initiative which represents our cultural ideals.
