Lagos PDP alleges plan to attack members

By DAPO AKINREFON & CHARLES KUMOLU

IKEJA- Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised the alarm over alleged plan to attack its candidates in Saturday’s local government elections.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State  chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has called on Lagosians to ignore what it described as negative campaign by the opposition and vote for the party in the council poll, assuring residents of the state that ACN will ensure that all inner roads in the state were fixed.

PDP appealed to law enforcement agencies to protect its candidates and chieftains from attackers.

At a briefing in Lagos, state chairman, Mr. Setonji Koshoedo, alleged that ACN leadership was not “comfortable with the participation of PDP in the forthcoming council polls, particularly because the masses were disenchanted with the performances of ACN at the councils.”

He alleged that the planned attack was to commence with the state rally scheduled to hold this week, adding that the said rally had “in fact, been delayed till now because of the alleged security reports.”

He said the modus operandi set out include hiring thugs, who will infiltrate rallies, pretending as PDP members, but who will suddenly demand their rights for supporting the party. They will thereafter continue the attacks in the homes of PDP stalwarts.”
