GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has approved a three-day Well-Being Retreat programme for 200 top directors in the state public service.
The retreat which run in batches from 25th of September to 5th of October was aimed at emphasizing the health policy of the administration in paying attention to the health and social well being of its entire workforce.
While declaring the retreat open at the Eko Tourist Beach Resort, Akodo, Ibeju-Lekki Lagos, the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Florence Modupe Oguntuase, said the Fashola led administration was determined to give due and proper attention to its workforce towards improved service delivery and enhanced productivity.
She noted that employees were the most valuable assets of any organization, public or private, hence, the need to give priority attention to their well-being and welfare.
According to her; “The well being retreat is designed to create a work/life balance situation for the efficient and effective discharge of assigned duties and responsibilities, and to also sensitize the participants on the benefit of proper check-ups as part of efforts to enhance preventive health care, since prevention is better than cure.”
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Shade Jaji, advised participants to maximize the advantages of the programme.
In her words “You all have a leadership role to play in the development of this State and the present Government is appreciative of all your efforts in the discharge of your various responsibilities.”
Topics expected to be covered during the retreat include, Pre-Wellness Dialogue, Who am I, Work-Life Balance, Time Management, Well Being Discussion, Mid-life Crises and Stress Management amongst others.
