By John Egbokhan
Davis Cup member, Abdulmumini Babalola, yesterday, moved into the second round of the Governor’s Cup Futures I, courtesy of a 6-2, 7-6 straight sets win over Nugent Terance of Ivory Coast.

Babalola, who is playing in the main draw courtesy of the wild card given him by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), said that he was confident of doing even better in his subsequent games.

“It is the first game, which was somehow rough but I hope to do better in the other matches”, said Babalola.

But another Nigerian, Bala Musa, was not so lucky in his first round game match against tournament’s third seed, Vishnu Vardhan of India, who won in quick sets of 6-0, 6-1. Also Rose Ojonimi, was unable to win a point in her 6-0, 6-0 straight sets loss to Conny Perrin of Switzerland.
