ACSI renews commitment to revamp education sector

DIRECTOR, Association of Christian Schools International, (ACSI), Nigeria, Mrs Adun Akinyemiju has said that its organisation has reiterated commitment to revive the dwindling education sector as it extends the hands of help to schools and Nigerian children.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony held recently at its Head Office, Ikeja, Akinyemiju stated that ACSI has come to our country to ensure that member schools are effective to promote sound education by rendering necessary help to school owners, teachers and school children.

She noted that after making the ACSI schools what it ought to be, member schools will be encourage to contribute to the public schools who are found wanting in what real education stands for in its ramifications.

Moreover, Akinyemiju urged Christian parents and churches to see Christian schools as essential tools to the moral and academic development of our children as sound education without knowledge of God will not help their future.

The director said, she looks forward to when the ACSI in this country will be the voice of Christian education in the public saying that these vision will be sustain by the collective effort of it members.

Explaining the mission statement of ACSI, Akinyemiju pointed out that it is designed to enable Christian educators and schools all over the world to effectively prepare students for life beyond this mortality.

Defining what effective christian schooling is all about, Akinyemiju restated that it entails graduating children with the mind of Christ, saying that as they graduate, they will be desiring to live a life of worship and service unto God in whatever profes-sion they find themselves.

It was however empha-sized  by the director that the function of ACSI does not replace the role of parents toward their children or wards.

Recalling the antecedent of the non governmental organization, the International President, ACSI, Colorado Springs, USA, Dr, Brain Simmons at the meeting said that the ACSI has registered schools in over one hundred countries all over the world as it operates through regions of North America, South America, Asia, Europe, United States and Africa.

According to him, between May 2008 to date, ACSI Africa region started a move to strengthens her operation by creating central Africa regions with headquarters in Congo, East Africa operating from Uganda. ‘’In West Africa, Francophone countries operate from Burkina Faso while Anglophone countries operate from Nigeria,’’ he said.

Since its inception in West Africa English speaking in May 2008, he maintained that ACSI has been operating through zonal activities consisting of prayer alters, seminars, conferences and summits to create awareness on the need for Christian education and train people who will train others to run schools effectively.
