It’s judgment day for Siasia!

By Ben EFE
Under fire Eagles’ coach, Samson Siasia will come face to face with destiny today, as the Nigeria Football Federation decides whether to allow him continue with his job or to cut ties with him.

The NFF technical committee, headed by Chris Green has already recommended Siasia for the sack after he failed to earn a qualification ticket to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. And while the executive committee was waiting to take a final decision, there have been avalanche of speculations with the name of the President, Goodluck Jonathan being dropped as the one who has the final say on Siasia’s fate.

The former Eagles striker and the President happen to share the benefit of having their origins in the same geographical location.

Siasia himself has been making efforts to save his job and at the moment, Nigerians have contrasting opinions on his ability to move the Eagles into the path of honour, after the scandalous ouster from the Nations Cup.

However, all the speculations and the arguments for and against, will be laid to rest when the NFF takes a stand.

A member of the NFF technical committee and frontline sports journalist, Paul Bassey painted a picture of what would likely happen.

“Siasia signed a contract. It was clearly stated that his contract will be up for review, if he failed to reach the semi-final of the Nations Cup, but now he has not even qualified.”

Siasia has pleaded for the NFF to overlook the contract and give him a second chance. It remained to be seen how the NFF will resolve what appears to be a puzzle.

It is also decision day for Uche Eucheria who was reportedly operating as Falcons coach without a contract. It was gathered that NFF members are united in their resolve to ease her out. She failed to guide the Falcons to the London 2012 Olympics after losing 4-3 on penalties to Cameroon after a 3-3 aggregate result.
